Netball leadership urged to collaborate or get out

Sport administrators in the country have once again been urged to work in the best interest of athletes. This was also emphasized by Sport Minister Agnes Tjongarero, in a recent Interview. Disputes are unfortunately common in several sport codes in the country and Netball is no exception. NBC Sport recently established that the Netball Namibia leadership and the Africa Development Netball Manager seem to not cooperate at all. According to the regional manager, who is also a former national player - Joan Smit -Netball Namibia is not opening up to her office, and this slows down the development process. Line minister Agnes Tjongarero is aware of the issues and called upon administrators to put their differences aside and concentrate on developing sport. “We are here to help the players, to groom the younger ones to come up. If you are not serious about the issue which is about sport, if you come with an attitude of not liking certain players, get out, Someone else can come in who can work with anybody, so that the sport can develop. All we want is development of Sport” Tjongarero said. According to Tjongarero, who is also a former netball player herself- the Namibia Netball leadership has to think about the younger generations. She wants the leadership to work in the interest of athletes. “We want our players to play overseas. Why are our players not playing for Wales or other big teams in Europe, I want to talk to the leadership to stop the in fights, Don't personalise, it's not yours. You will get out here and sport will be there forever” she added. The Current Netball Namibia leadership was elected in 2017 and still has one more year in office.
