Not all players form part of my plans - Mannetti

Windhoek-Brave Warriors coach Ricardo Manetti has made it clear that players whom he does not call simply do not form part of his plans. The team will be facing Lesotho on Tuesday but ahead of the crunch encounter Manetti has said: “If I have not selected a player for four years, it will be unfair to ask if the player is still in my plans or not.” Some players whom Manetti has omitted are African Stars Defender Pat Navin Uanivi, Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Nyambe, Eino and Miguel Hamutenya, who plays football in Norway. Manfed Starke who plays for Carl Zeiss Jena in the German 1st Division and even recent exploit Wandal Rudath who has been in great form for Black Africa recently aren't part of the selection either. Manetti went on to say that he does not select players on the basis of their last performance but on the basis of how they are performing for their teams week in and week out. “Lets take Pertrus Shitembi, who is not in this team because he only started playing a few week ago after a long injury layoff. But my philosophy has always been simple. If a player is not playing, I will find it difficult to select him,” explained Manetti. The message is simple. Coaches should be able to teach those players to play in Manetti’s formation and therefore specific positions, or risk not being selected for the national team.
