NPL clubs urge fans to fill stadium

Three Namibia Premier League (NPL) giants, namely African Stars, Orlando Pirates and Civics, will play their home games this weekend at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek. Representatives from the three clubs hosted a joint press conference earlier this morning as part of a marketing campaign. They urged football fans to fill the Sam Nujoma Stadium to capacity on Saturday and Sunday, as they will host Rundu Chiefs, Mighty Gunners and Blue Waters respectively. African Stars’ chief executive officer, Lesley Kozonguizi says it’s better for fans to buy tickets in advance to make it easier for those at the gates. “Tickets are already available at different Pick n Pay outlets. They're only N$30 if you buy it there, while the VIP seats will cost N$150. It will, however, cost you N$10 more if you have to buy tickets at the gate. Logistically, it will be easy. You just show your ticket and enter instead of buying at the entrance,” explained Kozonguizi. He also added that fans will be transported from the stadium back home after the games. “There will be buses to take back those who need transport after the games. The tickets serve as bus transfer as well," added Kozonguizi. Orlando Pirates, who are now 10th on the log will play in-form Blue Waters on Saturday, before taking on Eleven Arrows on Sunday, and the team’s Chief Executive Officer Niklaas Kasipili has high hopes. “The team is well prepared. We have no excuses but we urge supporters to come in big numbers on Saturday and Sunday. These players need you, so come to sing and dance for them at the stadium,’ said Kasipili. His sentiments were also echoed by Kozonguizi, who wants his team's supporters to paint the stadium red on both days. “African Stars without you are nothing. The players need your support, so come out in number for this team,” said Kozonguizi. Stars have a date with Rundu Chiefs on Saturday before taking on Mighty Gunners on Sunday. Civics will play Mighty Gunners on Saturday before hosting Rundu Chiefs on Sunday in a must-win encounter.
