NPL Football Season to kick off in three weeks

Windhoek-With the 5th of October being the proposed kick-off date for the upcoming NPL league, the much-anticipated 2018 /2019 football season is just around the corner - allowing enough time for football clubs to put their affairs in order before the league commences. Before kick-off, a few changes will have to be tabled and revisited to make sure that each team plays one game a week during the upcoming season. League President Tovey Hoebeb shed more light on the anticipated developments. “We will be having our AGM on the 15th of September because the AGM is the highest authority that will approve league fixtures. We want to engage other stakeholders like stadium authorities as well to make sure that the stadiums are ready for us on those particular days” Hoebeb said. He emphasised that teams such as Julinho have learned their lesson after a struggle in the league and this should send a message to other teams to strengthen their defence as well. He said good planning is at the heart of everything. “The registration is open and it will end on the 5th of October. I have seen some teams have already started with pre-season preps and some have indicated that they are having trials. I hope they will assemble good players and start making their way to the office” Hoebeb added. He urged all clubs and teams to put their affairs in order on time and maximise their performance for the necessary points.
