Local football has taken a dramatic turn when the country's top league, Namibia Premier League (NPL) on Thursday filed an urgent court application against its suspension by the NFA Normalization Committee (NC). In a letter to media on Thursday, following last night's meeting - the NPL injunction seeks the lifting of the unlawful suspension against the NPL, to set aside the illegitimate Extra-Ordinary Congress, planned for 9th November 2019, and to be provided with the Rules and Method to be Used to Promote and relegate Clubs to and from different NFA Leagues for the 2019 / 2020 season. It is clear stated in the letter that due to its sensitivity, the NPL will reserve its right not to comment on this matter until it is on the court roll. The NPL and NFA has been on each other throat for the past months after the mother body urged the top league in the country not to relegate teams - something they opposed. This fight in the board rooms by the two bodies has resulted in the not kick-off of domestic football season at all levels.
