The Namibia Premier League might face another predicament after the league sponsors have allegedly threatened to pull the plug, if the agreement conditions are not met. The NPL kicked off on the 20th of October 2017, which is when most teams concluded their first round of matches. The teams were scheduled to start with the second round in early February 2018 according to the contract. In the same contract, sources close to the Premier League office, told NBC Sport Desk that the sponsors and the league also agreed for the first division leagues to start within three months after the NPL kick-off. The desk has it on record that the sponsors instructed league bosses to find sponsorship for the first division leagues. Three months down the line, there is however no clear sign, as to when the first division will resume. Nbc has learned from a reliable source that the NPL sponsors have written letters to NPL to inquire on the matter, but they seemingly did not get any response. It’s also the Sport desk's understanding that the NPL might refuse to release the clubs' monthly grants, ahead of the second leg of matches. Neither the league bosses nor the sponsorship representatives were willing to comment on the matter.
