Omusati to host 2020 Regional Games

Omusati governor Erginus Endjala has welcomed his region's nomination to host next year's popular Regional Council's Annual Sport Tournament. Endjala expressed his joy over his region being selected during the official opening of the just ended 4th edition of the annual sport tournament held at Eenhana in Ohangwena region last week. The visibly excited governor did not hesitate to announce that his region is ready and will indeed host the games come next year. In his acceptance speech Endjala said that it had always been his region's dream to host large sporting events which will attract scores of athletes and sport administrators to the region. “I am very much delighted to be the next host and as the minister said, sports is not only entertainment, but it’s also a business and at the same time also brings people together as part of enjoyment” Endjala said. Endjala explained that many will be quick to criticise his region for accepting to host the tournament due to a lack of proper sporting infrastructure at the town. In this regard he emphasised that they will make use of the existing infrastructure and that it's not always about the standard of sporting infrastructure but how well a team performs that leads to victory. He highlighted that, his region over the years has managed to win various competitions such as The Namibia Newspaper Cup, Debmarine and many others. “If we were able to scoop all those awards. Where are we practising? Apart from that, two of our boxers are going to represent Namibia in all African games. Therefore, there is no doubt to host you in our region where those champions use to practice. Omusati is ready” he said. This year's games saw Kavango East Regional Council walk away with major awards over the weekend.
