By: Martin Ukarerani Namibia Paralympic Committee is gearing up seven athletes to go and represent Namibia at the 2016 Berlin Grand Prix in Germany this month. The event is one of the 12 Grand Prix organize by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) annually and is set to take place from 16 to 17 July. This will be the first time the Namibia Paralympic Committee (NPC) will send athletes to participate in that event. NPC Secretary-General Michael Hamukwaya said their aim of participating in the Grand Prix is to help improve the athletes' ranking ahead of the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in September. We want them ranked at least in the top four when we travel to Brazil for the Paralympic Games. We also want our athletes to challenge for world records when we are in Berlin. According to one of the Athletes who are going to represent Namibia, Gold Medalist Johanna Benson said she is looking forward for the championships, and she is in a good shape we should expect her to come back with a medal. And she can’t wait to go represent her country for the first time at the Grand Prix in Berlin, Germany The athletes are Ananias Shikongo, Elias Ndimulunde, Johannes Nambala, Aloisius Martin, Tobias Moses, Johanna Benson and Lahja Ishitile. The Namibian team is leaving tomorrow to Berlin.
