All public gatherings - including sports - need to be maintained at the current maximum of 50 persons at all times. This was announced by the Minister of Health and Social Services Dr Kalumbi Shangula during the state of the nation address which was held in Windhoek on Wednesday. With COVID-19 cases on the increase in Namibia again, Shangula said that attendants of public gatherings should adhere to COVID-19 regulations. Although all sports are still allowed in the country, there are measures such as public registers, sanitizing, proper wearing of masks and social distancing in place that people should be adhering to. Meanwhile, all sports activities have been limited to 2 hours per event and may not end later than 20h00. “ All sports are allowed, but there shall be no spectators and the number of persons attending the events shall not exceed 50 persons” Shangula explained. The amended regulations will be effective from 23.59 on Wednesday, up until midnight on the 3rd of February 2021.
