The Namibia Rugby Union Council members during their annual general meeting in Windhoek this weekend resolved that the Namibia Rugby Premier League will kick off on the 10th of April. The return of the rugby premier league has been long overdue and the decision to resume it in mid April was thus welcomed by the players and fans who waited for long to enjoy the game again after it was affected by the global Covid-19 pandemic. “We approved the date of 10th of April as the starting date of the premier league. It will be a one round league, upon the executive will decide if there will be a cup to be played for or not” NRU president Corrie Mensah said. The meeting, which took place at the Safari Court and Hotel in the capital, The meeting also discussed various other issues such as the financial statements, Sevens Rugby, women’s Rugby and the hosting of the Southern Africa cup in June.
