Rundu Chiefs out of danger Zone

Rundu Chiefs moved out of the relegation zone after playing three games over the past two weeks. Chiefs beat Mighty Gunners by three goals to two, in their first game this year. They then drew in goalless encounters with Tsumeb-based Chiefs Santos before they were again held to a one all draw by Young Chiefs at Oshakati. The Rundu-based side moved to 13th place on the log equal on points with Civics, but the Khomasdal based side has the better goal deference. The results mean that Oshakati outfits Young Chiefs are dragged to the bottom of the table. Chiefs Santos who gathered one point over the weekend did not manage to move themselves out of the danger zone. Defending champions Tigers complete the three teams in the relegation zone. The team still awaits feedback from the NPL bosses, regarding their failure to honour both their opening games of the league. At the top half of the table, it has been quiet as most of the teams completed their first round games last year. African Stars are leading the pack, seven points clear of second-placed Tura Magic with this season surprise package Young African in third spot. Black Africa, UNAM and Orlando Pirates will try to challenge those above them in the second round of the season scheduled to start in a week’s time.
