SALUTE BOXING ACADEMY TO CAMPAIGN FOR HEPATITIS E AWARENESS

BRESCHNEFF T. KATJAIMO Khomas Governor Laura McLeod Katjirua has urged Salute Boxing Academy to join in the fight for awareness against the recent outbreak of hepatitis E. The boxing academy's management and some staff members paid a courtesy call to the governor's office on Wednesday afternoon to discuss details. Launched about three years ago, the Salute Boxing Academy has been hard at work to keep to their promise of producing champions. According to the boxing academy’s management, they have achieved a lot to promote the country and its sportsmen and women. This was revealed by the stable’s spokesperson, Armas Shivute, during their courtesy visit to the Khomas Regional governor Laura McLeod-Katjirua. “We have really worked hard to make sure that we deliver on our promises to have champions, be it at national, continental or world levels. We have achieved some of those promises that we made earlier,” said Shivute. So far, the stable brags with four national, three continental and one world title. The governor was pleased with performance of Namibian boxers overall, and urged them to keep the country proud. According to Mcleod Katjirua, the government value the sport code contribution. She reminded the stable’s representatives that the region is affected by the recent outbreak of hepatitis E, and called upon the academy’s staff to join in the fight for awareness. “Remember the boxing bonanza we had last time. We looked at My Country, My Pride. I think we can through boxing also do the mobilisation and campaign in regard to this Hepatitis E outbreak. We must not get tired of educating our people, and you as the leaders can assist in awareness of this outbreak, “ urged McLeod Katjirua. Salute Boxing Academy’s Chairman Kiriata Kamanya, who agreed to be part of the campaign, said they will start spreading the word to the 150 boxers in their stable and beyond.
