Senior women's indoor hockey team prepares for SA indoor series

Windhoek-The senior women's indoor hockey national team is currently in preparation for the upcoming Indoor Hockey Series, which will take place from the 4-6th October in Durban South Africa. After winning the Indoor African Champs last year in June, Namibia is now ranked 1st in Africa, and 11th in the world following a great display at the 2018 Indoor World Cup held in Feb in Berlin, Germany. Namibia won two matches, drew two and lost two. With more games lying ahead, head coach Erwin Handura believes the team will improve their world rankings. Only seven of the players who went to the world cup this year are available for the upcoming series. The captain, Magareth Mengo, is expected to reach her 50th Indoor cap on 5th Oct, as she played 48 games for Namibia. She'll become the 1st player ever to reach that milestone in Namibia. The team will travel on the 3rd of October to South Africa.
