Silent Assassin reclaims WBO Africa Welterweight title

The MTC Nestor “Sunshine” Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy hosted the MTC Sunshine Boxing Fiesta on Friday evening at the Windhoek Country Club, with 11 bouts in total. Of those, it was the WBO Africa Welterweight title that had everyone’s attention. Mika “Silent Assassin” Shonena took on Tanzanian Mfaume Mfaume for the WBO Africa Welterweight title. Both boxers came into the fight with some hard hits of the bat, exchanging blows throughout the rounds. It wasn’t up until the seventh round, however, when both boxers started increasing the power behind their hits, with Mfaume even showing off his cocky side after some heavy body punches from Shonena. Mfaume managed to stay on his feet much to the disappointment of the Namibian fans, going the full 12 rounds. The bout was ended on points. Judges points: Laizy Nainda 119, 109 Timo Haikonda 117, 111 Nevile Holtz 120, 108 By unanimous decision, Shonena remains the WBO Africa Welterweight Champion. Shonena is currently ranked 9th on the WBO Welterweight Rankings.
