Namibia Sport Commission Chief Administrator Freddy Mwiya has urged Sport Organisation leaders to unite and focus on serving the athletes. Mwiya made these remarks at the official send-off of four gymnasts who are going to represent Namibia in the Czech Republic. The Namibia Gymnastics Federation has been making headlines in the media for all the wrong reasons lately. It is currently subdivided in two fractions, after divisions arose among its executive members. This is something that eventually caused the President, Sonja Olivier to be suspended. Mwiya made the Sport Commission's position on the matter clear. ”With regard to the current status of NGF the NSC being the regulator of sport in the country, the executive committee as duly elected in Karibeb on the 23rd of February 2019 , is the legitimate body that is authorized to conduct and run the affairs of Gymnastic in Namibia”Mwiya said. The sport's mother body in Namibia awarded National Colours to the athletes that will represent Namibia at the Olympic Hopes International in Liberc, Czech Republic. Mwiya ended the press briefing by cautioning sport leaders to prioritise their efforts with athletes, saying their position is meaningless without the athletes. According to him after due consideration of the application from the Gymnastic Federation they decided to give Jake Du Plessis, Anne Lee Thorburn, Minette Hough and Hannah De Goede the national colors. On her part Gymnastics Coach Nadine Jaeger said the athletes have put a lot of time in their preparations and they will hope for the best. The event is expected to last from the 28th to the 30 of November.
