Stars and Tigers receive their Super Cup kits ahead of final

African Stars and Tigers, who are both playing in this year’s Super Cup final, received soccer gear at the NFA House in Katutura today(Wednesday). With only two days to go, African Stars and Tigers came face to face at the kits handover ceremony. The two Katutura giants will meet in what many consider to be an entertaining final, with the main purpose of claiming the trophy and a cash prize worth N$500 000. Speaking at the event, Adv Sigrid Tjijorokisa, who represented Standard Bank, urged football lovers to rally behind their favourite team during the final match on Saturday. According to her, Standard Bank wants to see more growth in the sport code, hence their investment in the tournament. “Soccer is a sport that unites people and we at Standard Bank believe in developing the soccer fraternity that contributes to skills development of players and increase(the number of) public spectators who come to watch their favourite soccer teams. In so doing, we support local football and the community at large endorsing what is clearly stipulated in our Harambee Prosperity Plan - that no one should be left out” explained Tjijorokisa. African Stars beat Tigers by one goal to nil, to win last year’s edition of the Super Cup. Since then, Stars have not beaten Tigers again in any of the three meetings that followed the initial encounter. The final is scheduled to take place on Saturday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium. Kick off time is 15h00. Tickets for the 2016 Standard Bank Super Cup are available at Computicket for N$30 each. NFA Secretary General Berry Rukoro urged both teams to play good football and attract sponsors to the sport code.
