Cricket Namibia CEO Johan Muller said in order to have a successful transformation programme, it all has to start with sufficient exposure to the game. Muller said this on Nbc's most recent Sport vs COVID-19 show Last week on the cricket edition of Sport vs COVID-19, Cricket Namibia CEO Johan Muller explained the ins and outs of their transformation programme and shed some light on the way forward. Muller explained that their strategic vision is to impact families and to create new forms of access. He, however, cautioned that this comes with its fair share of challenges. “One of the stumbling blocks was exposure. We have picked up, especially on the road show last year that a lot of people in the smaller towns have not seen Cricket. When the child that we coach in the Kwata program comes home the parents doesn't know what Cricket is so they don't motivate the children to go back. So for me transformation and development starts with knowledge” Muller said. Adding to the discussion of challenges faced by Cricket Namibia was Vice President Polly Negongo. “Over the years we struggled and it was simply because Cricket was or probably still is viewed as a white-man sport, which is not the case, I think it's all about interest first of all and what you as a board do to take the game to the people. I think we have gone full-out to spread our wings and take the game to the people” Negongo said. Negongo also added that media outlets are currently playing a big role in exposing Namibian people to the game and ultimately sparking an interest.
