UNAM beat Wanderers in top of the table clash

Unam produced one of their best displays of the season when they beat Wanderers 56-31 in the top of the table clash contested at the Unam field on Saturday. High expectations were the norm between the two leading rugby teams in the Namibia Rugby Premier League. Backed by their red sea of fans in the stands, home team Unam started the better of the two with an early try by Shareave Titus, and their kicker Lorenso Louis not finding the going tough to convert. Wanderers replied with an impressive try by MP Pretorious, which Bradon Groenewald easily converted. With play getting intensive Camilo Martin added to Unam's tally, with Louis perfecting his boot. Pretorious added another try for Wanderers which Groenewald converted to bring the two teams on equal terms. This did not last too long as Unam were awarded a penalty which Louis effortlessly converted. Unam extended their lead with a brilliant build up which resulted in Lorenso Louis' try which he converted as well. The host continued with their dominant performance capitalizing on Wanderers' countless mistakes. Paolo Andrews closed the first half with the fourth try for Unam to bring the score to 29-14 in their favour at the change-over. In the second half they made some changes by bringing fresh legs, but it was Wanderers who started the second half the better as Pretorius went over for his third try of the afternoon, which Groenewald converted. Soon after Unam were given a penalty, Louis did not make any mistake to make it 32- 21 for the students. Further tries by Renier Benade, Cameron Langenhoven , Enzo Kotzee and Clyde Besser added to Unam's tally , while Bredell Wessels and Elmarco Beukes each scored a try for Wanderers to bring the final score to Unam 56 Wanderers 31. The two teams will lock horns again on Friday.
