Deputy minister of Sport, Youth and National Service, Agnes Tjongarero, says the government is proud of the Brave Warriors' performance at the African Nations Championship in Morocco. The Brave Warriors touched down at the Hosea Kutako International Airport earlier Monday after they were defeated by the host Morocco in the quarter finals of the 2018 African Championship. Welcoming the team was the deputy minister of Sport, Youth and National Service Agnes Tjongarero who made it clear that she knew the team went into the competition without playing any league games, causing a bit of a setback. “I'm aware and I'm sure even the technical team is aware that to play the host is not so easy, but you played so well. I'm so proud of you. We are not disappointed, we are happy with the way you played because you gave all you could, and normally your best. There's nothing better than your best, after you have given your best what else can we expect," said Tjongarero. Surprised by the warm welcome from the fans, coach Ricardo Mannetti thanked the supporters, while also applauding his players for their dedication and sacrifices by being away from home and loved ones for one full month. “That takes commitment that takes discipline and I'm so impressed and to show you the fruits that nothing comes easy you have to put in a lot of work, you have to sacrifices you have to say no to certain things and I'm so proud of these boys" said Mannetti Expressing gratitude for the support from the Namibian people throughout the journey was team captain Ronald Ketjijere “Since the first day we left Namibia we having been receiving good messages from home from the friends and from the few who believed in us as players as the national team. Most of the people never gave us the chance. To be honest we were in a tough group. We were in a group where there were African giants in terms of African Football, like Zambia , Ivory Coast. Those are big nations, and we respect them for that, we respected them and we fought as underdogs and we went out of the group and we really appreciate your support" narrated Ketjijere Should the Namibia Football Association secure a friendly game, the Brave Warriors will be in action again in March, because that is the only date set for friendlies by FIFA. Said friendlies will then be played in preparation for the 2019 Africa Cup of nations qualifier.
