Cricket Namibia's newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Johan Muller, unveiled his vision and plans for the sport code in the country on Monday and said he's looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead. South African Johan Muller, whose three-year tenure officially started on 28 October, has been making regular visits to Namibia on a consultancy basis to familiarise himself with what's been happening on the ground over the past few months. At yesterday's officially introduction to the media Muller set out his short and long term goals for Cricket Namibia with emphasis on administrative excellence, infrastructure development, capacity building and to have a product that will have commercial value. In terms of development Muller said that they will focus on development at school level. “We are working on a very exciting programme called regional centers, where our Kwatta schools will now get the opportunity to move into hard ball Cricket from the age of ten to thirteen to ensure that those kids that play Kwatta Cricket can stay in the game for a lot longer. We are going to develop the infrastructure, place a coach there and make sure the kids can continue grow in the game" Muller said. Board member and Vice President of Cricket Namibia Polly Negongo explained that he is very happy that they got the services of Muller who's track record speaks for itself. “We were actually excited when we got his application, because he comes from a background of an era in South Africa that has been very successful in developing the game. What we hope for is for him to bring that same knowledge and experience over to Namibia and spread it all over the country" Negongo said. Staff development, training of umpires and coaches will also be among some of the key areas Muller confirmed he will be focusing on.
