Gobabis-based Young African Football club on Tuesday had their suspension overturned and are now allowed to remain in the country's top-flight Premier league. The team is, however, required to pay 100-thousand Namibia dollars as a fine for fraud and contravening the rules of the Namibia Premier League. The case of Young African, which had dragged on for quite some time was finalised. Young African were initially found guilty by the NPL for registering a Zimbabwean player under a false name. This resulted in the Namibia Premier League's demotion of the team to first division. Speaking to NBC Sport Desk, Young African owner Mali Ngarizemo said he was happy that the case is finally over. “The important part is that the team retains their NPL status. We are over the moon about that. We also agreed to pay the fine of N$100 000. We will have a meeting and share this with our supporters and I would also like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult period” Ngarizemo said. The verdict was also welcomed by the team's players and fans who have been roaming the streets with their future undecided due to the long duration of the case. In the verdict letter by the NFA Appeals Committee, it was also stated that Young African have been warned not to commit similar offences in future.
