An urgent High Court application filed by the City of Windhoek Management Council against the City Council will be heard at 14H15 today. Four IPC councillors - Ndeshihafela Larandja, Jurgen Hecht, Bernadus Araeb and Ottile Saart Uukule - want the High Court to stop the City Council to forge ahead with a meeting of a 'vote of no confidence against the four, which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
Last week, the council accorded the Management Council an opportunity on 12 August to state its case on why it should not put the vote of no confidence on its agenda. The 12 August meeting was postponed to 23 August after a member of the MC asked for more time.
The IPC team wants the court to declare the planned meeting unconstitutional, unlawful, null and void. The four further claims in court papers that the planned meeting violates certain rules of the Local Authorities Act. The City has, through its lawyers Andreas Hamuyela Legal Practitioners, indicated to defend its case. The motion was tabled by AR councillor Ilse Keister.
