Former ||Kharas Regional Councillor Jan Scholtz is imparting leadership skills to learners and teaching them how to initiate development programs.

Scholtz hosted a one-day leadership and mentoring workshop for members of the Learner Representative Council of Luderitz Secondary School over the weekend.

This is the second school that Scholtz visited in the harbor town as part of the drive to improve the performance of learners at high schools in the ||Kharas Region.

The workshops are aimed at equipping members of the Learner Representative Council with the required skills and knowledge to fulfill their obligations as leaders at the school and community levels.

Scholtz urged the participants to implement what they have learned to inspire others to take education seriously for a better future.

"We want to train our learners on leadership and also make sure that they position themselves so that they will handle conflict resolution at the school level, whether it's bullying, communication, or any project or program, and how they will implement and execute it for the benefit of the school and students."

Scholtz said if learners are inspired, it helps them improve their performance and excel in school.

"They sit with tools in their hands to shape their own destiny, and I believe that it is through going the extra mile, through your comfort zone, and also through persistence, perseverance, and patience that, at the end of the day, it must mold them into citizens of Namibia."

Scholtz will conduct similar workshops at other high schools in the region.
