Oshana Regional Council will avail its facilities to the Namibian Statistics Agency (NSA) during the upcoming Population and Housing Census, slated for later this year.
Addressing an NSA engagement meeting, Governor Elia Irimari assured the agency that it would be given space and resources to ensure that the upcoming census is carried out effectively and efficiently.
This year's census will be conducted from August to October 2023.
"The Oshana Regional Council will be availing its government facilities, be it classrooms where they can operate from. We are prepared to assist the Namibia Statistic Agency on this exercise".
Irimari welcomed the census exercise, adding that statistical data is the backbone of development in any country.
"Data is important for a country, for us to map out our development, in terms of social, economic, political and other aspects of development. You cannot do without a census".
He implored the nation and community of Oshana Region to fully cooperate with the officials during this exercise, saying it is only through data that a nation or region will be able to map out its future objectives accurately.
On his part the Census Manager at Namibia Statistic Agency, Isak Neema warned the public not to fall victim to scammers and to refrain from giving out personal information.
