The Deputy Minister of Gender Equality Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare, Bernadette Jagger has requested beneficiaries of the government's income-generating projects to continue growing their projects and create job opportunities.

The Deputy Minister made an appeal during the handover of equipment and materials to ten beneficiaries at Katima Mulilo.

Beneficiaries are from the manufacturing and agriculture sectors such as carpentry, leather processing, gardening, tailoring, and poultry.

The items consist of water tanks, generators, fencing wire, zinc sheets spades, and pipes worth over N$ 77 000.

" The ministry funds viable income-generating activities, if I say viable it should have the potential to flourish and create employment opportunities in the long run, so, when you benefit from this program, you must make sure that the program does not stay there stagnant, it must grow so that you stretch out a helping hand to others."

Jagger also reminded regional councilors to take note of such projects and render the needed support to the individuals.

The Councillor for Katima Mulilo Urban Constituency Kennedy Simasiku applauded the ministry's continued efforts to uplift marginalized and previously disadvantaged groups.

"Once again the ministry has come to the rescue, to ensure that women who are the most affecting members of our society are benefiting from these projects so that they can make money, and not just money but be able to sustain the livelihoods of their families."

The recipients showed gratitude for having been chosen among hundreds of others who applied.

" I am really lucky, it was not only me in Katima Urban, but it also was all of us and I am grateful to the almighty God and the ministry to make this possible, I feel so excited and I'm really appreciating this and I encourage young girls to go into business and empower themselves, let us not wait for anyone to give us something, let us get our own earnings through our hard work."

"I am grateful to the ministry of gender for supporting me by providing the material and equipment for me to do my job well, I promise that there will be progress in this project."
