The Bank of Namibia has declared a dividend of N$413. 7 million to the government.
The dividend was handed over at the launch of the bank's 2022 Annual Report in Windhoek.
Commending the bank, on behalf of the government, was the Deputy Minister of Finance who noted that the dividends will make a difference in the lives of the less privileged, previously marginalized communities as well as in building the economy.
The Central Bank's Governor Johannes !Gawaxab also noted that Namibia's financial integrity is hailed as one of the best in Africa and the country must continue to safeguard it by safeguarding its institutions.
Further adding that Namibia cannot afford to fail the test regarding the mutual evaluation exercise, which assesses the effectiveness of their Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism and Proliferation Framework.
The bank, he says is also committed to delivering monetary, price, and financial stability, improving fiscal sustainability, and accelerating Namibia's recovery to sustainable growth in this year of revival.
