The Epukiro Constituency Office and Tuva Tuva, a non-governmental organization, have donated blankets and other necessities to a group of people with disabilities in the constituency.

The donation, valued at more than N$50,000, is hoped to buffer them against the fast-approaching winter.

Speaking at the official handover of the donated items, Constituency Councilor Packy Pakarae stressed that people with disabilities need the full support and attention of community members just like anyone else.

"All communities and all villages should come forth with people living with disabilities at their homestead and let us know, let health officials know, and let Tuva Tuva know so that we can see how to assist and also make sure that we treat them with love and care in order to restore their dignity as human beings."

Hence, the regional council also calls upon other stakeholders to come on board and assist where possible.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Hilde Kazapua says that the donation came at the right time, though she calls for even more to be done, especially for those in need of wheelchairs.

At the same time, the Mbaeva Kahuva family from Okasaira village donated $5,000 in sanitary pads and toiletries to Good Hope scholars at Okovimburu.

The constituency leader applauded the initiative taken by the Mbaeva Kahuva family from Okasaira, saying education is a shared responsibility.
