The Minister of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism urged workers at national parks in Kunene and Erongo Regions, to maintain the newly renovated facilities at a cost of more than N$130 million.

Pohamba Shifeta said this during the handing over of equipment and inauguration of the four national parks facilities at the Cape Cross Seal Reserve, Sprinkbokwaser, Ugab Mund, and Mowebay.

The renovation comes after the groundbreaking ceremony in 2021 for the four national parks facilities.

The infrastructure includes new park management stations, fencing materials, staff accommodation, power and water supplies at Cape Cross, Ugabmund, Möwe Bay, and Springbokwasser. 
 
Shifeta says the facilities will attract more tourists and improve the livelihood of those working at the facilities.

Also speaking at the occasion was the German Ambassador to Namibia who says the Namibian Government continues to ensure that its people benefit from caring for their natural resources and the development of their country.

Coastal Parks and their support zones are sustainably managed and fair access to their natural resources is ensured, thus contributing to biodiversity conservation and improved living conditions of the neighbouring communities.
