Namibia Post and Telecom Holdings (NPTH) has declared an extraordinary dividend of N$600 million to the government.

This brings the total amount to N$3.1 billion the entity has declared over the last two financial years, 2021/22 and 2022/23.

The announcement was made during the NPTH Annual General Meeting.

NPTH is the parent company of Telecom, NamPost, and MTC.

The Chairperson of NPTH, Sencia Kaizemi-Rukata, stated that the organisation is aware of the crucial role it plays in the economic growth of the country.

The Chief Executive Officer of NPTH, Kristofine Naunyango, mentioned that despite the challenges faced by the company, such as the impact of COVID-19, it has recorded a number of achievements.

The Deputy Minister of Finance, Maureen Hinda-Mbuende, commended NPTH for declaring the dividend and advised the telecommunication companies to consider introducing additional charges on international calls.

NPTH earlier declared a N$2.5 billion dividend to the government in the 2021–2022 financial year.
