A suspect in the violent robbery at the Otjomuise Shopping Centre in May has been arrested in the Omusati Region.

Andreas Shaanika, who is believed to have been part of the robbery, appeared at a northern magistrate's court.

The police reported in May that five men allegedly followed the victim, who had just withdrawn N$50,000.00 from a local bank, and attacked him at the Otjomuise shopping centre. The suspects, according to the police, were armed with knives, a panga, and a pistol and robbed the victim of a bag containing the withdrawn money.

During the scuffle, an exchange of gunfire occurred between the suspects and the victim before the suspects got away in a red Polo with no number plates.

An intelligence-led operation was conducted, which led to the arrest of one suspect who was apprehended in the Omusati Region.
