Deputy Prime Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasised the need to expedite economic recovery in order to accelerate the country's economic growth.
She made these remarks during the 13th edition of the Eenhana Expo Fundraising Gala Dinner, which took place in Eenhana.
Politicians, businessmen, and women who attended the event pledged over N$357 000 to support the smooth organisation of the expo, scheduled to take place from July 31 to August 5.
FNB Namibia emerged as the primary sponsor by pledging the highest amount of N$50,000 during the event.
During her keynote address, Nandi-Ndaitwah reiterated that economic recovery can be expedited through the resilience and innovation of local business people, emphasising that diversification should become the new normal.
"If we renew our thinking around the economic challenges our country is faced with and choose our hearts to make hard practical decisions when we have to think of what we have done and what to do now."
The expo is expected to stimulate the region's economy while providing a platform for businesses of all sizes to showcase and trade their goods and services. It also offers an opportunity for networking with other industry players.
The Urban and Rural Development Minister, Erastus Uutoni, also addressed the audience at the event.
"The ministry recognises the importance of this event, and we would like to applaud the council for this initiative that will help grow the town of Eenhana."
The theme of the event is "Reviving the local economy through business resilience, innovation, and diversification."
