Two siblings, aged 17 and 12 years old, from Kikiya Village in the Zambezi Region, died last night when the mud room they were sleeping in caught fire.

The deceased were identified as Morris Sikunga Samuya and Lewis Munali Samuya.

Morris was a Grade 8 learner at Linyanti Secondary School, while his younger brother Lewis was a Grade 5 learner at the nearby Kisako Primary School.

Villagers woke up around five o'clock on Thursday morning to discover that the hut in which the two boys were sleeping had completely burned out, with smoke still visible from it.

Their unrecognisable bodies were taken to the Katima Mulilo Mortuary, waiting for a postmortem.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established, but police investigations are ongoing.
