Elenga of Uukwambi Traditional Authority Herman Iipumbu has lauded the Oshakati Town Council for initiating a unique Totem Expo, which strives to preserve, showcase, and strengthen various cultures in Namibia.

Oshakati Town launched the 12th edition of the expo, which will be hosted in December as part of the economic revival.

Since its inception in 2012, the Totem Expo has provided a platform for various totems.

"When we are here, we are born by a female and a male, and not in any other way. So it's important to note that the cultural norms are safeguarded so that our future generations will not be coerced into adopting European cultures. We need more of these events."

The expo was suspended for the past three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Hence, we are inviting all the corporate companies, SMEs, local authorities, regional councils, and all institutions and business fraternities to ensure that they bring their products and services closer to the people of Oshakati and all visitors who will be part of this expo," said Oshakati Mayor Leonard Hango.
