The Legal Assistance Centre (LAC) has, over the past 35 years, done more with less to protect human rights.

However, the Centre, which depends on donor funding, is finding it difficult to reach out to all citizens who are unable to access or afford legal aid.

The LAC has been in existence for 35 years, taking on cases of public interest with a wider impact on the community. However, a lack of financial resources is posing a challenge for the centre to take on cases as desired.

The Centre, celebrated its 35 years by bringing services closer to the people and works in five broad areas: mainly litigation, information and advice, education and training, research, law reform, and advocacy.

During its celebration, LAC provided citizens with immediate advice and consultations specifically related to human rights issues.
