The Khomasdal Constituency Councillor, Samuel Angolo, wishes the Windhoek Municipality to relocate homeless people residing at Khomasdal Stadium.
Angolo was speaking at the handover of blankets to the homeless people there.
The councillor donated 40 blankets and hot water bottles to keep the residents warm on cold winter nights.
"The office took notice and brought them those gestures just to cover them so that no one dies of cold, and then we are busy also negotiating with CoW so that they can see how best they can relocate these people. Because they can't leave forever here. So we are waiting for the local authority to be ready, and then definitely we will come to relocate these people and get them a better place where they can live."
Angolo also urged the beneficiaries to take care of the items donated and not sell them to the public.
A mother of two who also stays at the stadium also said that, as a TB patient, she is finding it difficult to protect her children from being infected with TB.
"I have been on medication since October last year. So initially it was not that bad, but now for the past six months it's been a strong TB, which is highly detectable. I live with my two girls who go to school, and I am very scared that they might get infected with TB".
