The 13th edition of the Okatumba Agricultural Show centred on promoting upcoming young farmers and exchanging ideas between experts and enthusiasts.
Speaking at Okatumba in the Otjombinde Constituency, Committee Member Alba Marenga urged young upcoming farmers to concentrate on producing quality stock as opposed to keeping large herds of livestock.
"We came up with this event to encourage young farmers to come up with quality bulls and to take them out of Windhoek as they have nothing to do. There are a lot of things here, the first thing is the knowledge once you're here."
The farmer says the industry requires effort and commitment for one to become a successful entrepreneur.
Mbajoroka Tjizepa, a Sales Consultant at Agribank, stressed that the bank is there to support farming communities with mentorship programmes and other agricultural related projects.
"Because one can see the quality of the livestock that are here, although we are being touched by drought, one could say that they are doing a great job. That is one of the reasons we are there as the all-season bank and here to support them financially, giving them training to say, "When it's hard like this, what should we do?"
