The recently promoted Deputy Commissioners in the police have been encouraged to utilise a leadership course as a means to instigate positive transformations in the police force.

The Deputy Commissioners are currently participating in a five-day leadership course at Swakopmund.

The course covers topics such as conflict resolution, crisis management in emergency situations, and the influence of culture on performance.

"Envision the leaders you want to aspire to become. Picture the impact you will make on the force, the communities, and the world at large. Let this course be the catalyst that propels you towards greatness, empowers you to inspire change, and fuels your passion to leave an enduring legacy. I strongly believe that investing in your knowledge and skills will bear tangible results", said NamPol's Administration Deputy Inspector General, Anne-Marie Nainda.

Major General Nainda called on senior officers to use their positions to guide and inspire those they lead.

"Leadership is not about being the loudest voice in the room; it's about being the one who listens attentively. It's about recognising the untapped potential within each individual and nurturing it until it flourishes. It's about fostering an environment where diversity is celebrated, ideas are cherished, and growth is a constant pursuit."

The training, facilitated by the Namibian Institute of Public Administration and Management (NIPAM), was attended by 15 Deputy Commissioners, mainly women, from different directorates and regions.
