The TB Free Namibia Foundation and the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) have donated e-bikes to the Tsumkwe Clinic. The bikes are intended to benefit the community of Tsumkwe and will be used in the prevention and management of drug-resistant TB.

During the World TB Day Commemoration in Tsumkwe in April this year, the TB Free Namibia Foundation, in collaboration with Dundee Precious Minerals, donated N$61,000 to the Ministry of Health and Social Services.This amount was used to procure two e-bikes for the drug-resistant TB programme in Tsumkwe.

The aim is to enhance advocacy, communication, and social mobilisation. Dr. Sylvester stated that the handover of the electronic bikes will benefit the healthcare workers by enhancing efficiency in their workspace.

They have an advanced version that is faster in speed, smoother in riding, and environmentally friendly. Dr. Sylvester says this will help reduce delays in service delivery because health workers will no longer struggle with transport. The mission of the Foundation is to advocate for high-quality care and treatment for TB patients and break stigma at all levels.One of the foundation's main pillars is to advocate for equal access to health.

The Executive Director of the Ministry of Health and Social Services, Ben Nangombe, said with increased mobility, the e-bikes will enable community healthcare workers to cover larger distances more efficiently and effectively to identify patients, deliver results, and manage close contacts with patients in the villages and posts in the Tsumkwe and Mangetti Dune areas.
