The Chairperson of the Ovambanderu Traditional Council, Dr. Heroldt Murangi, says community development is a matter that all traditional authorities should embrace. Hence, for this year's Okaseta commemoration, the Ovambanderu community has come up with key resolutions, such as the establishment of the Omaheke Education Fund Project and the donation of 300 bales of grass to drought-affected farmers in the region.

Dr. Murangi revealed this during a site interview with nbc News at the Okeseta Annual Commemoration.

The Chairperson of the Ovambanderu Traditional Council, Dr. Heroldt Murangi, says the traditional authority has taken a conscious decision to not only speak of historical matters during commemorations but to also find ways to address development matters through these platforms.  Among the resolutions taken was a decision to invest in the education affairs of local scholars, and Dr. Murangi says to that effect, N$100,000 was pledged to the fund by the Ovambanderu People at the annual Okeseta commemoration. 

"We have decided that in terms of our commemoration, I think we should take this position and resolution that we cannot just come talk about history; we should also look at issues that will improve the lives of our people."

Dr. Murangi says the modalities around how the fund is to operate are still being worked out, as they target top-performing scholars in grades 11 and 12 next year.

The drought situation was another point of concern, and here, through Ombara Turimuro Hoveka, the authority pledged 300 bales of grass to be distributed to the most affected farmers in the region.
