The police in the Zambezi Region are investigating a case of culpable homicide in which a Zambian national was allegedly run over by a government car belonging to the Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism near Kanono Village.
Police regional spokesperson in Zambezi, Inspector Kisco Sitali, said the deceased, whose age is unknown, was identified as Chester Libita from Silowa Village in Zambia. He had been with his wife, Sonia Thomas, just prior to the accident, and the couple came to Namibia in search of work.
The driver was on his way to Kansa-Rupara on official business. Police confirmed that the driver rushed to the Katima Mulilo Police Station immediately to report the incident, and he was not arrested.
