Inhabitants of the ||Kharas Region want the Green Hydrogen Scholarship Programme 2024 criteria to be relaxed to embrace inclusivity.

Sharing their sentiments during an information session on the scholarships, they say tertiary and vocational training qualifications should not be a precondition.

The scholarship provides funding for Masters' degrees, TVET diplomas, and certificates related to green hydrogen.

Those eligible to apply must be between the ages of 18 and 35.

Speaking at the information session organised by the Southern African Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management (SASSCAL)  those in attendance want the requirements relaxed.

In 2021, the Namibian and German governments entered into a partnership, a key priority area of which was capacity building towards the development of the Green Hydrogen Project.

An amount of over N$100 million was allocated for the scholarship programme.

The scholarship application deadline is October 6.
