President Hage Geingob has returned from the United Nations General Assembly held in New York, in the United States, and described the meeting as a success.
During a high-level meeting that spanned close to two weeks, Geingob participated in the 2023 Sustainable Development Goals Summit, where Namibia played a leadership role in the recalibration and acceleration of global goals.
The Presidency states that the assembly marked the beginning of a new phase of accelerated progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals, guided by high-level political leadership.
It aimed to address the impact of multiple and interlocking crises facing the world today and intended to reignite a sense of hope, optimism, and enthusiasm for the 2030 Agenda.
Geingob also engaged in bilateral talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz concerning co-leadership of the UN Summit for the Future, climate change, and green hydrogen.
He also conducted consultations with other heads of state and ministers.
