Unity and peace are prerequisites for the development of any given country.
These were the remarks of Swapo Party Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah when she addressed a rally at Omuthiya in the Oshikoto Region.
Nandi-Ndaitwah says bringing prosperity to the people remains one of the goals of the Swapo Party.
This can only be achieved through unity, and she called on all members to rally behind the leadership that was elected at last year's party congress.
The Swapo Party Vice President said it's now time to focus on strengthening the party as they prepare for the Presidential and National Assembly elections next year.
"We must be united, we must be disciplined, and we must not listen to those who want to destroy our party or to those who want to destroy our country. Our day-to-day goal is to ensure quality service to our people. We know the challenges that are facing us, but we also know that there is a lot that has been done."
She says people are interested in good governance, honesty, and continuously improved service.
Therefore, those entrusted with the responsibilities of serving the people, whether in the party or in government, should do so with dedication, commitment, and integrity.
She advised superiors to stop covering up for subordinates who fail to deliver and ensure that corrupt practices are not entertained at any workplace.
Nandi-Ndaitwah advised Swapo members to maintain maximum discipline, saying a lack of discipline is cancerous to any institution.
On the provision of water, she said the government is aware of water problems being experienced in some parts of the country, including Oshikoto, and efforts are being made to ensure this is addressed.
Swapo Oshikoto Coordinator Armas Amukwiyu assured the Swapo Party Vice President that they would give her full support in 2024.
"A society can only be led by a well-organised political leadership, and the Swapo Party and its leadership are those that have ears and the hearts of the people closer to their hearts."
