The Secretary General of the NUDO Youth League, Veparura Kandirikirira, says the party should make its presence felt in the Kavango regions.
The NUDO branch in Rundu has been in existence for a year now.
Kandirikirira urged party members to play their part in terms of making NUDO visible.
"With the local authority's election in 2025, I want to see NUDO represented in Rundu Town Council and all other village councils in both Kavango regions. That's the only way we will grow our party. The late NUDO President, Dr. Kuaima Riruako, always said each member should be an organiser of this party."
The youth league SG said NYL members should make it a point to reach as many people as possible, particularly those in rural areas.
"People cannot come to us; we should go to them. I'm calling upon this Rundu branch to be more active. Let us not have meetings in town; let us not have meetings indoors. Next time I come here, I want us to go to Sauyemwa. People should see that NUDO is in Rundu."
Kandirikirira also took a swipe at service delivery in Rundu, saying many residents are frustrated with the status quo and change is therefore needed.
"Large parts of informal settlements are not yet electrified, and street lights around the town are out of order. It has been struggling to deliver basic services. Despite being next to the Kavango River, some settlements in Rundu are facing daily water outages. Poor waste management is another headache. The town is dirty, and waste is lying all over the CBD. We need vibrant, capable leaders through our party to bring about change in Rundu."
