The N$34.6 million police post at Singalamwe in the Kongola Constituency of the Zambezi Region has officially been inaugurated.

The facility, which was completed last month, consists of a charge office, a record room, a radio room, a kitchenette, a 2-bedroom house, two 20-room barracks for male and female officers, a kitchen, and a staff entertainment area.

The Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration Safety, and Security, Dr. Albert Kawana, inaugurated the new facility, saying it forms part of the government's commitment to prioritise infrastructure development for all ministries and government agencies.

"The construction of police facilities such as the one we are inaugurating here today is a clear indication of our government's commitment to its resolution of ensuring effective and efficient service delivery to the public. This police post will indeed bring policing services closer to the people of the Zambezi region and visitors alike."

The Inspector General of the Police, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, said the building is a testament to the commitment to safety, security, and the rule of law.

"The inauguration of this police post is a significant step forward in enhancing our community's safety and security infrastructure. It will bring the policing services closer to the people, making law enforcement more accessible and responsive," said Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo.

Shikongo also urged members of the public to report criminal activities and assist the police in combating crime in their areas.

The police post was also allocated a Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle worth over N$600,000 to assist officers in attending to crime in the area.
