A serial rapist suspect wanted in the Oshana Region was finally arrested on Friday at Ohadiwa village near Ongha in the Ohangwena Region after being positively identified by the two minor victims at the Oshakati Police station during an identification parade.

According to NamPol's community affairs officer in the Oshana Region, Warrent Officer Frieda Shikole-Ashiyana, the suspect is an 18-year-old male.

The suspect is linked to the sexual assault of the two girls, aged ten and eleven, respectively, at Onheleiwa and Ohambungu-Onamutayi villages last weekend.

The suspect, according to police, sexually assaulted the two on separate days by, under false pretences, grabbing them and raping them in nearby bushes.

Warrent Officer Shikole says the suspect is a habitual sexual offender who is out on a warning after being linked to two other different rape cases also involving minors and committed while he was under the age of 18.

He is also out on bail for two cases of housebreaking and being found in possession of stolen property.

The suspect is due to appear in the Oshakati Magistrate Court.
