The police in the Omaheke Region have called on the public to refrain from spreading misleading information about the alleged harvesting of human organs.

NAMPOL say nothing of this nature has been reported in the region to date.

Speaking at a media conference in Gobabis, Regional Unit Commander and Community Affairs Officer, Inspector Fina Sakayengenga, pointed out that community members are wrongly linking an attempted murder case in the Aminuis Constituency earlier this month to human organ harvesting.

Sakayengenga added that anyone caught circulating such misleading information will be dealt with.

"We, the Namibian police from Omaheke Region, are urging the community to refrain from circulating this information because this information is being circulated from WhatsApp groups and Facebook, facebook such as audio, country-wide and region-wide, so we are urging the community to refrain from circulating and forwarding this as this is causing panic and fear among the community.”
