Waldfrieden Primary School, which is located 17 kilometres north of Omaruru in the Erongo Region, awarded learners who performed well this year.

Over 200 parents travelled from far away to the school to celebrate their children's academic achievements.

The school awarded 175 learners, out of the 411 total enrolled at the school, academic certificates, trophies, and vouchers.

Johanna Muronga scooped the award for best overall performer in Grade 7, while Martha Mpasi was awarded the best overall learner in the senior primary phase.

The overall best learner in the junior primary phase went to Michaela Chisanda.

Speaking at the price-giving ceremony, acting principal Alfons Kairi said the ceremony was meant to appreciate learners for upholding discipline.

"Discipline forms part of an integral part of any institution of learning; therefore, our emphasis at Waldfrieden is on moulding and shaping the Namibian child to achieve greater heights in their educational journey."

The Senior Education Officer for the Junior Primary Phase, Dorothea Axakhoes, added that the school's good performance was attained through discipline.

The school ranked second in the primary phase of the Omaruru circuit.

Omaruru Constituency Councillor Erenst Wetha reminded parents about the crucial role they play in their children's education.

The councillor also praised the school's teachers for their dedication and hard work.
