The Kamanjab Village Council (KVC) has committed to building four houses each financial year for residents who are living with disabilities.
The project, which is co-funded by the Kunene Regional Council, has already started with the construction of the first four houses.
Kamanjab Village Council Chief Executive Officer Bianca Nguaiko said the council has received one million dollars from the informal housing trust fund to construct 29 houses, of which four are for people living with disabilities.
"With the assistance from the regional council, we have availed land and collaborated, and these houses are completed, and these people are not going to repair anything back for the houses. Because they are only surviving with the grant from the government."
People with disabilities will also benefit from the council's special rates.
Some beneficiaries of this initiative have applauded the council for the good gesture, noting that it makes their lives easier.
