The Namibian Association of Medical Aid Funds has sounded alarm bells over the state of medical aid in Namibia.

Its CEO, Stephen Tjiuoro, aired these views on nbc's One on One Programme.

Tjiuoro described the state of medical aid in the country as worrisome. Currently, Namibia has seven different medical aid schemes.

He, however, refuted recent media reports that suggest that only three percent of medical aid funds are financially sound.

Tjiuoro also responded to queries as to whether members can transfer benefits if, for example, a member's chronic benefits are depleted.

NAMAF was created by an act of Parliament to control, promote, and coordinate the functioning of medical aid in Namibia.
